Made using white stoneware clay, this piece stands around 35 centimeters high. Modelled on a sketch.

The goat is often seen as not just a clever animal, but also a beautiful one. An internet search will display many images and references to the beauty of a goat and my sketch (above) has the mischievous look of a friend.
This first image shows the ram's head method of preparing clay (which evens out anomalies and dislodges any trapped air within the clay) and with a name like that, maybe this could have been the finished piece? 😊 Once wedged, the clay is rolled into sheets ready for construction. The cement-filled flowerpot was made as a base to work from for a previous piece and it comes in handy now.
Hair was added in rolled out sections of clay. The ears are kept in place with newspaper. Horns added.

Initially the eyes were going to be blank, but in the end a pupil with highlight spot was decided on.

The finished piece
This should be happy outside as the stoneware firing will have left it frost-proof.

He looks happy about it.
