A friend opened a challenge to do 30 days worth of portraits. They started off ropey and slow, being as out of practise as I am. However, they have become a joy and it has been so good to get my hand back into the fine detail. Our Queen looks a bit off kilter here but this was on the warm up - getting there bit by bit.

There is no doubt this was the most fun with the close up showing the wonderful wrinkles. Strange how we fight the appearance of them yet they look so good.

My favourite so far has been this one above although it could be because of bias. She is my daughter who visited last week. Seeing this large, all the bits I missed (tooth) show terribly but it is more or less her. Wearing a towel on her head after a shower, we were sitting in the morning sun with boiled eggs and soldiers for breakfast. It's these simple things and days which are the most precious.
