This was a l o n g time in the making compared to the others in this series, 'Experimental', which started when the heat rose at the beginning of summer. Always strongly influenced by the weather and seasons, the heatwave of 2018 affected me artistically by an increasing tendency toward the lyrical abstract. It is therefore interesting (for me) to note that as the heat wanes and we walk into Autumn that this piece took longer. It may be the last for a while, unless it is simply a breather.
Despite the 'grunge' nature of many of the summer pieces, they have been a lot of fun to make, so I hope this shows through to the viewer. They have definitely come from the heart and been a discovery of boundaries.
Let's see if they make it to winter.
