It's been a while since I've sat down to draw a study which isn't leafy and free and have to admit that there was a creeping doubt that maybe I'd lost the knack; so sitting under the shade of a laurel with elderly Springer Spaniel, Tilly, the pencils came out.
Despite the heat, Tilly managed to move about a bit, wandering over to the pond for a drink, adjusting herself for a scratch, nothing too energetic, but enough to ruin a drawing. It is for this reason the two sketches done are of her sleeping. Just the second saw her move before I could complete the back section, but hey, they're both dog-like enough for me not to worry about losing any drawing / observational skills. (Hope you agree). :)
