It was Ian in the workshop who asked whether I had painted anything recently. Just that one comment obviously started something. It was like releasing a cork from a bottle.
A few years back canvas and board was the preferred option, but having tried paper, there was no going back. It works so well with oil paints and the size is less restricted. This one measures 69 X 42 cm., painted on 200 gsm cartridge.
North Field. 60 X 42 cms.
Shade, 36 X 40 cms; posted quickly onto Flickr to stop me fiddling with it. Often with a busy hand, it can be find hard to leave something bold and blank. This was painted after sitting under the shade of a laurel tree, sketching the patio stones.
The initial sketch (left) and a photograph of another possible painting in the making (right). Oh I do love it when the weather is fine - hope you are all enjoying it too. X
