The copper plates etched at home the other day (see previous post) were taken into the workshop today to print. The oil-based relief printing inks are beautifully strong, no doubt, but it is the presses which really make each piece sing.
The first try was inked at home and then covered in tissue paper to transport. I was hoping not too much ink would be lost in transit and I really enjoy the patina.
Colleagues in the workshop preferred the clean colours of the second print, but it is all down to personal choice, the design remains
The next design which I liked is 'Car Park'. This one was a little harden to ink up despite the fact I made sure there is a good bite around each section. There's a hard and soft roller on order so maybe that will make a difference for the next time?
