Another visit to Jane's studio with Hayley, and strangely enough, there we were both on a beach theme.
It was all about pebbles this week for me. The pigments used to create the colour for this printmaking don't always do as expected, so I wanted to concentrate on one design and see where I could take it.
A pebble design was cut from a sheet of A4. This is the main base for the design which may then be ghost-printed and used as a blanking template as well.
This first print was straight onto 100 % cotton, which doesn't take up the pigments very well. t lends to a softer end effect. Using blue blanked out and ghosted onto textured mid yellow, the over-printed with hand-drawn detail.
Later presses tried out printing on plain white, keeping the pebbles themselves lighter and the yellow/blue mix on the right.
I hope to make a proper tessellation pattern for the next session and get to grips with making a proper printed piece which could be used for a run.
