The thing which takes printmaking from a pleasurable art form into a slight obsession is the many ways in which a design can be altered as it goes through what is a process-driven activity.
From sketch, to creating the plate, to colour - application, wiping off and paper used, printmaking outcomes change as they travel along the line.
These two images come from the same plate. The first with the aerial perspective altered on the plate and a stronger foreground orange on 250 gsm Snowden; the second with chine-colle, different wiping off on the aerial perspective and a more burnt orange on 65 gsm Lokta.
