It seems the main difference between these three is the context in which they are set. Without a reference point, it is hard to gauge size. It was with this in mind that The plate below was cut with two areas for block colour, one for contrast and the smaller orange square (house on hill) to throw contextual size onto the whole thing.
Looking at it with fresh eyes today, I am not sure whether this distracts and should therefore remove the square. For it's size it could be seen to unbalance the scene and yet without it, how's one to know what landscape it being described? (Comments welcome please).
