Acetate Scenes

Collagraphs

Collagraphs are often seen as the most painterly of printmaking techniques.
Here, scenes have been created using acetate sheets and oil-based relief printing inks.
Landscapes speak to us.  They carry the marks of time, be they carved by nature or marked by man.  Whoever you are, it is impossible not to associate your landscape with the emotions and lives we live within them.
Stone brar, printmaking, collagraph, original, art, Bella Bee, countryside, landscape
The old barn on a nearby road is slowly degrading but it is this which makes it beautiful.  Weeds creeping up the side, worn pathways and scattered stone makes this look a sorry sight.  It is actually of some monetary value due to its position and natural stone material.

Abstract landscapes using the principle of strong negative space and blocks of bold tonal contrast with etching details.

All of these designs are made for limited use.

It is not about mass reproduction, it is an artistic atheistic.

I love this. There is a perfect harmony with the richness of the printer areas, the open spaces, the line and the embossing. wonderfully resolved.

Thought I'd share this interesting feedback regarding collagraphs and the process.

Greetings Bella,
I was admiring your new collagraphs. it's very special to me to see artists all over the world working and creating in this process. My oldest brother, Don Bunse was one of the students in Glen Alps printmaking class where the process was developed and the name Collagraph was coined.
Don went on to teach printmaking at the university of Montana for thirty years. he also introduced the collagraph during the first cultural in china and taught the process in Oaxaca Mexico.
I frequently visit your photo stream and am always impressed with your images and explorations

Richard

This has a Barbara Hepworth quality to it. I think you see shapes in the same way she did.
